Characteristics and origin
Carnelian is a chalcedony whose orange to reddish-brown color is linked, in particular, to the presence of iron oxides. It can be translucent or more opaque depending on the material.
Beads, seals, amulets, and decorative objects made of carnelian are known in several ancient civilizations, notably in Egypt and Mesopotamia.
Traditional symbolism
Over time, its warm color has fostered symbolism now often linked to:
- creativity and expression;
- courage and boldness;
- motivation and new beginnings;
- confidence as a personal intention.
These associations are cultural, spiritual, or personal markers. They do not describe an effect produced by the stone.
