Characteristics and origin
Fluorite is a mineral with the formula CaF₂ known for its great diversity of colors and, in some specimens, its fluorescence under ultraviolet light. Major deposits are found in China, Mexico, South Africa, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Traditional symbolism
In the traditions of lithotherapy and certain cultural practices, this material is associated with the following themes: clarity, order, and discernment. These associations are cultural, spiritual, or personal markers. They do not describe an effect produced by the stone.
Fluorite in jewelry
Its hardness of 4 on the Mohs scale and its perfect cleavage make it sensitive to scratches and impacts. It is better suited for pendants, earrings, and protected cabochons than for rings worn daily.
Care: Clean it briefly with a soft cloth. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners, steam, acidic products, and rapid temperature changes.

To remember
Fluorite is appealing for its colors and zoning, but its fragility requires measured use in jewelry.
